Founded in 1935 through the generous donation of a member of the Retreat Anglican Church, our school holds the distinguished honor of being the first educational institution established in the Content area. For nearly nine decades, we have been nurturing young minds and building strong foundations for academic and personal success.
Recognized by Early Childhood educators as one of Jamaica's oldest primary schools, Retreat Basic has earned its affectionate nickname 'little school' from generations of families who have walked through our doors. Despite our modest physical structure, our impact on the community has been immeasurable. We take pride in our comprehensive educational approach, featuring robust reading programs, an innovative STEM club, and our active 4H chapter that connects students with agricultural and leadership opportunities.
Our commitment to community service shines through our Little Helpers club, where students engage in meaningful outreach programs that strengthen bonds throughout Content and beyond. Under the leadership of Principal Nadine Dunn and our dedicated board led by Chairman Prince Taylor-Younge, we continue to honor our founding values while embracing modern educational practices. Our historic building, still proudly in use today, serves as a testament to our enduring legacy and the countless success stories that began within these walls.
